Sincerest thanks to the mighty RJ Spangler for sending along the CD & 45 rpm single from his OUTSTANDING Louis Jordan tribute album. All-purpose good time music guaranteed to help you loosen up and feel better. Swinging, laying back or mopping like mad, the Spangler Mob knocks me out every step of the way. - arwulf arwulf, WCBN 88.3 FM
Just played "Caldonia" & "Saturday Night Fish Fry". Excellent! Bob Putignano, WFDU
The set was drawn from Jordan’s sets ranging from "Let the Good Times Roll" and "Blue Light Boogie" to "Caldonia" an "I Want You to Be My Baby". Everyone works hard and the audience surely had fun. Kopasetically, Professor Bebop, WTJU, Charlottesville, Virginia
I congratulate you on a worthy effort to pay tribute to one of the greatest yet less acknowledged musicians of the 20th century. Louis Jordan has always been one of my favorites and your arrangements and choice of personnel are impeccable. Your capability to replicate his sound is right in your style of groove. You are a man on a mission. -Jerry Mack, WCBN
What took you so long to get this great music out? Putnay Thomas, KUNM
The band pays a heartfelt tribute to an iconic contributor to the R&B tradition, the immortal Louis Jordan. As the old saying goes "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery". Judging from the crowd reaction of the receptive audience there are still many Louis Jordan fans among us. It will be interesting to see if this ensemble follows up with a CD of their self-penned music. This band rivals any band in this genre of music. What's old is new again. It all sounds fresh and not strictly an imitation. Any lover of good music will find much enjoyment here. - Greg "Bluesdog" Szalony Blues Blast

This hep new platter tips its cap to the man that matters – Louis Jordan, father of R&B, a true pioneer of American popular song and the influence to the influential. Here live on wax is the R.J. Spangler Band’s takes on Mr. Jordan's groundbreaking 1949 hit “Saturday Night Fish Fry” coupled with a smoldering version of Jordan’s "Knock Me A Kiss," rendered fully reet with an intense sax and guitar breakdown. Mop!
